Earl of Sandwich (located in the Chesapeake Plaza Travel Center) has become my go-to meal option whenever we are road tripping up I-95 and I get hungry. The sandwiches are consistently delicious and service is friendly and quick. I always order the "1762" (roast beef with horseradish) and absolutely love it! So delicious and filling. I also love their specialty BBQ chips. Sure, it's kind of overpriced for a sandwich, but trust me when I say that it's completely worth it and you get your value. There are plenty of seats in the travel plaza and it's just convenient all around. I generally like to explore new things, but when I'm traveling I like to stick with the tried and true. Earl of Sandwich certainly fits the bill.

im surprised that theres no review for this place yet.. first off.. i LOVE earl's of sandwich i make everyone get it for me when they head home from vegas. so about this place.. we were on the way of coming home from the baltimore aquarium.. then like every car.. we had to stop for gas. at that moment i happen to be on yelp and the sister in law was saying there an earl's of sandwich close by!! i couldnt believe my ears!! we stopped by this rest stop that had a couple of food there and there it was on the right... EARL'S OF SANDWICH!!! they dont have as much kinds as vegas.. but itll do.. i give this place a 5 stars not because i love it soo much but the cashier was soo friendly that he gave me a free bag of chips and 5 cups of soda. lol SCORE :]

Bottom Line: Serving fresh and warm sandwiches, Earl of Sandwich is the best dining Choice at the Chesapeake House Travel Plaza. BF has fond memories of eating Earl of Sandwich in a past life so for our recent Sunday Funday we made the trek up I-95 to check out this location within the fancy Chesapeake House Travel Plaza. Despite a long drive with some pricey tolls along the way I tried to keep my expectations in check and remain objective. We got two sandwiches, a bag of chips, two fountain sodas and a cookie. For sandwiches, he had the club while I had the roast beef. I'll admit, the sandwich was very delicious and I'm confident that Earl is serving more delicious chow than his neighbors - the Colonel, Wendy and Aunt Annie. Earl of Sandwich serves its own brand of chips which are kettle cooked, crispy and surprisingly addicting. The cookie was ok. All eateries in the travel plaza sell Coca-Cola products and the fountains are centrally located within the food court. I liked that they had my precious diet coke and it was easy to get a refill before heading back on the road.

On our way back to New York from DC, we opted for Earl of Sandwich sandwiches instead of the unhealthy alternatives available at Chesapeake House. We were two of us, each ordering our own sandwich, separately. We waited for someone else to order a sandwich, and then my companion placed and paid for her order. It was at this point that the two (or maybe three) employees behind the counter took on the job of making the first person's sandwich as well as my friend's whilst chatting between them. No one came to take my order, and we had to clear our throats and throw around some "excuse me"s before they realized there was still a line. Normally, that would make me dock many stars, but when I finally had my sandwich I had to admit that it was a good sandwich. The bread was crispy and soft in all the right places, the ingredients were surprisingly fresh for a rest area restaurant, and it was just delicious. I had the Full Montagu, full of cheddar, swiss, turkey, and a few other things. It was great. It hit the spot. It wasn't 40000 calories of grease and HFCS. In short, the service was slow and weird but the sandwich was damn good.

Eh. This is an Earl's of Sandwich location inside of a rest stop along Interstate 95 so my expectations were low. I got the veggie sandwich without the feta nor the dressing. For $7.49, the sandwich was a bit small, but of course, remember that we are in price gouging land. Next time you go on a road trip, bring your own PB&J sandwiches with your own fresh-baked bread. I can tell the bread here is frozen, but of course, remember that they have to feed the masses. I like how America emphasizes health and nutrition, yet inside of this rest stop, I spot a Wendy's, Pizza Hut, Roy Rogers, Cinnabon, and KFC. The world is not vegan-friendly. The world does not provide enough healthy options. I couldn't purchase a banana anywhere, but I could purchase lots of foods made with cheese, cream, and bacon. No wonder why all of us are so fucking fat.

Chesapeake House, new rest stop with lounge music, is almost too comfortable to leave. That will not be good for my trip, isn't it? Take the exit on the left to get in. There are Earl of Sandwich, countess Wendy, duke of Kentucky (fried chicken), lord of pizza (hut), and last but not least princess (auntie) Anne. The best of all, Peet's Coffee and Tea is here. Finally, they serve good coffee. They should have had free wifi and phone charging station and advertise as such on the billboard sign. I bet people will stop by like crazy and spend their money while waiting for the phone to be charged.

I really loved this place. I found their food to be really great. The breakfast sandwiches are awesome. Staff's friendly and proactive too. Thanks for making my day.

Best rest stop food I've had. Excellent sandwich. Way, way better than Panera or Potbelly. I had the hot ham and cheese on whole wheat. Toasted. Cheesy. Yummy. Stopping back again on our way back from NY now. Yum.

Tried this place on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered the Original 1762 light on the sauce. Wait time for my order was pushing 10 mins but it was worth the wait. The roast beef was thinly sliced and very tender. Bread was warm and fresh and held the contents perfectly. I requested a dab of horseradish it was creamy and didn't overpower the beef. Prices are slightly higher that it's neighboring fast food joints but it's worth it for the quality.

We stopped here off of I-95 on our way to New York. Nothing special about this location since it's at a rest stop but I'm giving it 5 stars since my sandwich was hot and fresh. The service was good, and everything seemed to be well maintained behind the counter. Wasn't crowded and so my sandwich was ready after about 7 mins which is not long to wait considering it needed to be prepared. I had the Earl's Club on wheat bread which consists of turkey, Swiss cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and Earl's sauce. The sauce is like a thin sweet tomato mayo. I paid just under $8 for the roughly 6" sandwich alone, not bad at all, and they were generous with the meat. We're all satisfied with the choices here. I'd definitely eat here again.
